We do not currently ship to P.O. boxes, APO’s or FPO’s.
Any orders with a destination address in Liberty Village, Toronto automatically qualify for free shipping and are delivered by hand. We rely on an excellent courier service to deliver to addresses within southwestern Ontario. Beyond this, we ship to all other Canadian addresses using Canada Post.
COCO XO offers flat rate shipping of $15 to addresses in Ontario and $25 to all other Canadian provinces outside of Ontario.

Yes absolutely! COCO XO chocolates make for the perfect gift on so many occasions. Want to make your gift extra, extra special? Have them saying, “Tt was so beautiful, I felt bad tearing it open,” by choosing gift wrapping and including a short message. We’ll have it all wrapped up beautifully and topped off with a short handwritten card. Only one destination address per order, so if ordering as a gift alongside some items for you, it's best to create separate orders.
*We highly recommend shipping your gift to an address where someone will be available to receive it when it arrives. Important - chocolate left outdoors all day (ex- porch, mailbox, etc.) may be damaged by weather elements - ex- too hot, cold, rainy, snowy, or humid.
Our gourmet chocolate and tropical heat don’t do well together. So, when summer is in full force, we will only ship to addresses reachable by courier in southwestern Ontario.
During this time it is especially important to ensure that you select a delivery address in which someone will be available to receive the package when it arrives. Chocolate left outdoors all day (ex- porch, mailbox, etc.) may be damaged by weather elements - ex- too hot, cold, rainy, snowy, or humid.
We will, of course, take extra care when packaging your order to help protect it from the elements, but purchaser bares the risk of shipping during warm weather.
During the warm summery days, we also encourage you to check out our fun selection of chocolate at our stockists.
We do our very best to denote potential allergens on product pages. However, our products are made in a facility that processes dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, sesame, and soy. So if it's a serious food allergy, we recommend that you do not eat our chocolate ... We know, it sucks but we'd rather you be safe and healthy.
At COCO XO we pride ourselves in supporting cacao farmers by using sustainably sourced chocolate. In fact, we list the origin and other details about the cacao beans used in our chocolate on all of our product pages, so that you can feel great about the chocolate you’re buying.
COCO XO works with the finest quality chocolate made in Belgium and France. While it is possible to produce chocolate in Canada, the actual cacao beans only grow 10° north or south of the equator, so the beans would technically need to first be imported to make chocolate. As a result, chocolate made entirely locally is not possible.
But we're keen to support local business by sourcing some of our ingredients from businesses within Toronto and across the country. For example, one of the things that makes our sponge toffee so special is that it’s made with raw and organic honey cultivated at apiaries in Toronto.
Ideally, all COCO XO chocolate should be kept at temperatures around 20 °C (68 °F) and away from direct sunlight and strong odours. While chocolate can withstand temperatures warmer than this, it may be damaged by temperatures of 25 °C (77° F) and higher. Chocolate does not need to be refrigerated, and can actually be damaged by a refrigerator’s moist environment.
Most people find that the back of a lower cupboard or closet make for the ideal storage conditions.
While we make everything to order and would love people to enjoy our chocolate in its freshest form, sometimes you've gotta tuck that chocolate away for whatever reason. So it's worth mentioning that storage times depend on the type of chocolate and other factors.
Solid dark chocolate that's been unopened, for example like our 70 Dark Bar and 75 Fleur Noir Bar, is good in proper storage for up to 12 months. Unopened solid milk or white chocolate, for example our Egg Lolly and Perfect Pout Lolly, can be stored 3-6 months. Most of our chocolate that has inclusions, such as our bark and and other bars, can be stored for up to one month. To ensure maximum freshness, we advise that our bonbons and truffles be enjoyed within 2 weeks of purchase.
It may be tempting, but we don’t recommend storing COCO XO chocolates in the fridge or freezer. Refrigerators and freezers can be moisture rich environments. When chocolate is exposed to moisture, white/grey clouds or streaks can form on the surface, which doesn’t look as visually appealing. This can especially impact the hand-painted pieces that we lovingly create. Chocolate is best stored in a cool, dry, and dark place.
Promotions + Wholesale
If you’re a Canadian retailer looking to provide a unique chocolate experience for your customers, we’d genuinely love to hear from you! Please connect with us at email@example.com.
On occasion we may have discounts or flash sales on our non wholesale items. Though, what makes our chocolate extra special is that it’s made just for you with loving, human hands. That means that when you order from our website, your order is never pulled from a shelf and is instead crafted with care and decorated and packaged by hand … all with you in mind. As such, we focus on giving you a high quality, personalized chocolate experience over quantity. So discounts and promo codes are rarely issued.
This is a great question - one that we get asked often. The word ‘COCO’ is a play on cacao and cocoa and is meant to illicit the feelings people have when enjoying a hot cup of cocoa. The ‘XO’ describes our sentiment around the incredible chocolate community others have helped us to build. Like the way one might finish off a letter with ‘xo’ or ‘hugs and kisses’, we included it in our name to reiterate one of our core values, “to make everyone we interact with feel loved and valued”.
At COCO XO everything we do is tied to our values. These values are a daily reminder of our ‘why’ and help to keep our decisions grounded. Our core values are:
- Prioritize making people feel loved and valued over profit
- Advocate for mental health
- Do things differently and create fun chocolate experiences
- Invest in community
- Support local
We are headquartered in vibrant Liberty Village (Toronto, Canada). However, our storefront is virtual and the majority of our sales are done through our website.
A selection of our gourmet chocolates are also available for purchase at the stockists listed on our homepage (currently Death In Venice, Liberty Commons, and Toronto Market Co.).
On occasion, you might also find us at artisanal pop up markets.
This is not something we typically advertise since we much prefer being the type to quietly give while promoting and uplifting those in need. However, it is a goal of COCO XO to be donating/investing at a minimum 10% of monthly revenue towards communities in need. Our offerings are made by either financial donations and/or gifts in kind. Non financial contributions are often donations of chocolate.
We're passionate about donating to places that focus on food insecurity, mental health, and physical health.
So far, we've had the honour of contributing upwards of $1,500 to the following very worthy causes:
- Frontline Workers at 20 hospitals in Toronto
- Mom's Kitchen
- Scott Mission
- Chocolate donations to 10 private individuals within Canada, US, Puerto Rico, and Australia who were struggling with mental health
Additionally, our founder, Quest, spends quite a bit of time supporting and mentoring entrepreneurs of all ages within North America.
Our founder, Quest, delights in using her crazy creativity and design background to help set our chocolate apart from the rest. You can see inflections of her bold and quirky personality in everything from our logo, to hand-painted chocolates, to packaging, and even photography.
